The university offers childcare for children of employees and doctoral candidates during school vacations and daycare vacations.
Childcare during Events
The Family Service supports the institutes and facilities of the university in organizing childcare services to accompany their events. Toy boxes can also be borrowed from the Family Service.

Family-friedly Places
Various parents’ rooms and breastfeeding and diaper changing facilities are available to students and parents employed at the university. In addition, the cafeteria offers a free children’s meal.
MiKi-Tag
Every two years, the University of Freiburg organizes the so-called “MiKi Day” (Employee Children’s Day), on which all university employees are invited to show their children their workplace at the university and, for example, take a tour of their institute or university facility and introduce their child to their colleagues.
Conference Times
Family-friendly meeting times are an important part of family-friendly working conditions. The Executive Board has therefore decided to recommend that meetings should generally only be scheduled during core working hours and that, in exceptional cases, the needs of those involved should be taken into account appropriately. In addition, it was recommended that school holidays and long weekends outside of lecture periods should be kept free of meeting requests as far as possible. It was also pointed out that hybrid meetings are very well suited to flexible working hours, especially for parents and caregiving relatives.
