FRIAS Sustainable Governance Senior Fellowship Programme for Researchers from Africa

Programme Objectives

With the Sustainable Governance Fellowship for Researchers from Africa, FRIAS seeks to strengthen academic exchange with the Global South and promote the global reach of research. Aimed at researchers from the humanities and social sciences based at institutions in African countries, this programme supports distinguished African scholars in contributing to knowledge on topics in the field of sustainable governance.

Support and Benefits

Fellowship Contract

Depending on their situation, selected applicants will receive a fellowship contract with the University of Freiburg or other compensation.

Fellowship Rights &
Obligations

Selected nominees become FRIAS fellows, with all rights and obligations during the funding period.

Research and Travel Costs

Fellows receive a research cost contribution, a budget for individual training, a mobility allowance and travel costs of the inbound and the outbound journey.

Accommodation & Living

FRIAS covers the costs up to 1500 €/month and offers an additional living allowance of 1.500 €/month to cover extra costs resulting from the fellowship stay in Freiburg.

Office &
Infrastructure

FRIAS provides to the FRESCO fellows modern office spaces, access to university libraries, and centrally located accommodation options, including support for family-related needs.

Tailored
Support

FRIAS makes every effort to provide tailor-made solutions accommodation, childcare, and educational facilities to meet the specific needs of fellows and their families.

Call for Applications
