Two Associate Memberships at Nagoya University‘s Institute for Advanced Research

The Young Leaders Cultivation Program (YLC) at Nagoya University’s Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) is a unique initiative dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary research and collaboration among emerging scholars. This program builds on successful models of international collaboration between the University of Freiburg and Nagoya University.

In its first round (April 2025 to March 2027), the program will accept two researchers from the University of Freiburg, enhancing its collaborative and international nature. The focus is on promoting interdisciplinary research that bridges diverse fields.

The associate membership covers travel and accommodation costs for a research stay in Nagoya of up to one month each year. Members will have access to office space at the IAR and the opportunity to engage deeply with the research community there.

Applicants are requested to submit their application in English in one single PDF-file, including:

(a) their expectations of becoming a YLC Associate Member;

(b) the research idea and topic behind the application;

(c) describe how their research will benefit from the membership; and

(d) with whom at Nagoya University (chair/research group) they would like to collaborate.

Applications have to be sent via email with the reference “Nagoya Associate Membership” to Dr. Michael Vollstädt.
