The new centerpiece of the academic programme brings together Humanities and Social Sciences as well as Medicine, Natural and Life Sciences.
With the start of the summer semester 2023, FRIAS establishes a joint colloquium for scientists from the Humanities and Social Sciences as well as from the areas of Medicine, Natural and Life Sciences. It will replace the former program which had consisted of three separate events: a colloquium for “Humanities and Social Sciences” (HUMSS), a colloquium for “Natural and Life Sciences” (NatWi), and an interdisciplinary colloquium held twice a semester. The new FRIAS colloquium will be held weekly.
“One of the core tasks of FRIAS is to promote interdisciplinary exchange,” states Ralf von den Hoff, Executive Director Humanities of the Board of Directors of FRIAS. “Merging the colloquia will enable the fellows at FRIAS to engage even more intensively with the perspectives and research projects of other disciplines and enter into conversation with each other.”
The FRIAS Colloquium is the centerpiece of the academic programme at FRIAS. At this joint event, the scientists at FRIAS will regularly present and discuss each others’ research projects. For the summer semester 2023, presentations about areas such as Law, Environmental Sciences, Bioethics, Molecular Biology, Linguistics, and Medieval Studies are planned. The colloquia are primarily aimed at the fellows of FRIAS. However, researchers of the University of Freiburg are welcome and invited to join the discussion. For organizational reasons, we request that you register via events@frias.uni-freiburg.de.
We will keep you informed about the schedule of the FRIAS Colloquium here.
