Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Apoli Bertrand Kameni holds a PhD in Political Science and Strategic International Relations from the University of Strasbourg (France). He is a researcher and lecturer at the Université Omar Bongo of Libreville (Gabon). He is an associated lecturer at the Institut d’Études Politiques (Sciences Po) of Lyon (France) since 2012. Aside from his interest in globalization, his approach to conflicts is truly new. He studies how the transformation of scientific innovations into industrial, military, and economic power required specific raw materials and how the search for these materials, in turn, may lead to the conquest of territories and to “resource wars”. That is why, according to Dr. Kameni, strategic mineral Resources Diplomacy is a novel and much-needed area of inquiry given climate change and the huge demand for raw materials fuelled by demographic dynamics and the ‘green’ economy. In 2013, when he first applied this innovative study of conflicts to Africa in the book Minerais Stratégiques. Enjeux Africains, he was awarded Le Prix Le Monde de la Recherche Universitaire in France. Today, this book is available in more than ninety libraries all over the world. Dr. Kameni has been working on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for nearly a decade, with fieldwork in Israel, Palestine, and Jordan.
