How can sustainable food systems be achieved? What solutions shape future living in a sustainable world? What ethical challenges arise in adapting to climate change? These are just a few of the questions being explored at various levels within the University of Freiburg. In selected projects from the Young Academy for Sustainability Research (YAS), the Innovation Campus Sustainability (ICN), and central research institutions of the university (Clusters of Excellence, EUCOR), the 2024/25 Lunch Lectures on ‘Sustainable Transformations’ will provide interdisciplinary insights into ongoing research activities. The event invites an engaged audience to explore this vital area of research at the university and to exchange ideas with other researchers during the two evening meetings at FRIAS.

The Lunch Lectures are a series of events at FRIAS dedicated to reflecting on knowledge, science, and technology in the broadest sense, with a different overarching theme each semester. The lectures are usually held in English. After the 30-minute lectures, the audience is invited to participate in a discussion with the speakers.
This semester, the Lunch Lectures will be held online, with two sessions taking place on-site at FRIAS. Links to the online events will be made available in advance in the table below.
