What FRIAS offers
FRIAS offers time-limited research residencies in Freiburg, welcoming both established researchers and promising early-career scholars (with a minimum of a completed PhD) from all disciplines, based in Freiburg, Europe, and beyond. To support collaborative initiatives, FRIAS also funds group research projects that bring together interdisciplinary teams, encouraging innovative approaches to research topics and questions across all fields.

FRIAS Fellowship
Programmes
FRIAS Fellowships are available to postdoctoral researchers of all nationalities and disciplines, based in Freiburg, Germany, and abroad.
Freiburg Research Collaboration Programme (FRESCO)
This programme promotes collaboration between scientists from the University of Freiburg and top researchers from Germany and abroad.
FRIAS Project Groups
This programme is open to researchers at the University of Freiburg. A Project Group may include multiple disciplines.
FRIAS Conference
FRIAS supports conference projects by early-career researchers at the University of Freiburg.
Early Career Rescue Fellowship
This programme supports researchers whose work is restricted due to political pressure in the USA.
Alumni Programme
This programme allows former fellows to come back to FRIAS for a short stay, ranging from two to a maximum of six weeks.
External Funding
Academics who have secured their own funding for a research residency in Freiburg may apply for a fellowship at FRIAS at any time.
