Who can apply?
The participation in the FRESCO programme is nomination-based. FRESCO Fellows must be nominated by researchers at the University of Freiburg who have an interest in establishing or bolstering a collaboration with the nominee. The program emphasizes strengthening the university’s profile and emerging research fields. Nominees are selected based on their ability to contribute to these areas, ensuring that their research aligns with and enhances existing efforts at the University of Freiburg.
The programme is open for early career researchers (completed PhD plus one to six years of post-doctoral experience at the time of the nomination deadline) as well as senior researchers (completed PhD plus a minimum of six years of post-doctoral experience or a tenured professorship or equivalent permanent position at the time of the nomination deadline)
Duration and Commitment
FRESCO Fellowships allow for multiple short-term stays over a period of up to 10 months, spread across several years. This flexibility is designed to accommodate the varied needs of international collaborations. The program also encourages Freiburg researchers, particularly early career scholars, to engage with and visit the institutions of the international fellows.
Selection Process
The selection will be made by the international FRIAS Scientific Advisory Board taking into account the following: academic excellence of the nominee and the nominee’s fit to the relevant profile or emerging field in consultation with the speakers of the field.
