Decision-Making for Future Forests
Themes and Research Projects – Research Area B
In research area B, we examine how decision-makers navigate the increasing uncertainties and challenges associated with the management and governance of our forests. In a rapidly changing world, traditional strategies are often no longer sufficient.
We focus on three crucial elements of decision-making:
- Shifting Evidence Bases: How is the body of knowledge on which decisions are based changing as environmental conditions shift?
- New Guiding Principles: How are the principles and values we use to manage our forests today and tomorrow evolving?
- Socially Grounded Practices: How do social relations, cultural norms, affects, and future aspirations shape everyday decision-making about future forests?
