The elected members of the Ph.D. Convent and of the Faculty Council, work together to value the rights of the doctoral students, improve their conditions as doctoral researchers according to their needs, and create a network. More Information can be found on their Website:

Organization of mid-level academic staff

Representatives of the mid-level scientists

The mid-level scientists at the Physics Institute organize themselves in this group to exchange useful information, elect representatives and discuss relevant topics.

The members have completed their doctoral studies but are not yet full professors (postdoctoral researchers with and without habilitation, junior group leaders, associate professors, etc., who are employed and/or teach at the Institute of Physics and/or are associated with it).

The group is administered via the mailing list mid-level-list@physik.uni-freiburg.de

Regular meetings take place on the first and last Monday of each semester from 4:15 pm to 5:00 pm (before the physics colloquium).

jDPG – Regional group Freiburg

Regional group of the Young German Physical Society

As the regional group of the jDPG (Young German Physicists), we offer a variety of activities and events each semester for students and other young people interested in physics. These include “Meet your Prof,” “Crime Scene Physics,” and the Nobel Prize Lecture. We also organize a physics breakfast for interested high school students every early summer. In addition, we occasionally offer special excursions outside of Freiburg.
