Student Council
The Student Council (“Fachschaft”) represents the political interests of students.
We, the independent Student Council of Social and Cultural Anthropology in Freiburg, facilitate communication and exchange between students and staff at the institute. Through the council’s various activities, a close and regular exchange develops across semesters and roles.
Additionally, we serve as a point of contact for student feedback, concerns, and suggestions at the institute – forwarding them to the appropriate channels and mediating as needed. We are also active in the University of Freiburg’s Student Parliament (StuRa), where we advocate for the interests of Social and Cultural Anthropology.

The Student Council regularly organizes:
- Round Table with the Institute’s lecturers
- Welcome Week for First-Semester Students
- Cabin Trip for First-Semester Students
- Semester Wrap-Up
Other events, organized on a rotating basis, include various outings, a clothes swap, film nights, and a Mensa party.
We also help with organizing the summer festival, which is independently planned by second-semester students.
Once a week, the Student Council holds a meeting open to all students of Social and Cultural Anthropology – come by and get involved!
