Visa and Insurance
- Do I need a visa for travelling to Germany and attending the course?
The website of the Federal Foreign Office provides an overview of current visa requirements. For details on the application, please contact the responsible German Consulate or Embassy in your home country.
- I need an invitation letter for my visa. How can I get it?
We can send you an official invitation to the course after successful registration and payment. Please write us an email to request one.
- Does the course fee include insurance?
Insurance is NOT included in the course fee, but having coverage for your travel and your stay is highly recommended. Please contact your insurance company in advance to find out about your coverage.
Accommodation
- What’s the accommodation like in Freiburg?
If you’ve booked accommodation during registration, you’ll be staying in a simple student room at a dormitory. The room is fully furnished, but bring your own bed linen and toiletries. The room is only reserved for the duration of the course.
- Location
Rooms are located in various buildings and districts, all within 15–30 minutes from the university and city center via public transport.
- Diverse environment
You’ll share a flat with students of different backgrounds and mixed genders. The rooms vary in age, size, and furnishings. You will receive the address and the key to your room on the day of arrival.
- Amenities
Food is not provided, but kitchens (not always with utensils) are available, and supermarkets are within walking distance. Laundry services and Wi-Fi can be used in all dorms. Mail and parcels cannot be received, but you can have them sent to the post office or DHL stations, where you can pick them up.

WiFi
Free WiFi is available on campus, e.g. in your classroom, and in the dormitories.
We will provide you with personal access details on the arrival day.

- How safe is Germany?

During the course, creating a safe, supportive, and respectful environment is at the heart of everything we do. All our activities are accompanied by teachers or student buddies.
If you feel insecure, reach out to our team — we are happy to help you find the support you need.
- I am a bit worried that Germany might be very different from my home country…
We know that it is common to feel like this when you first arrive in an unfamiliar environment, so we warmly invite you to join our orientation events.
Before your arrival, you will receive all the necessary information via email.
Once you arrive, you will quickly meet new friends through classes and leisure activities, making it easier to feel at home in the new environment.

Transport
- How do I get to Freiburg?
The nearest airport is EuroAirportBasel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, approximately an hour-long bus ride from Freiburg. Bus info: www.freiburger-reisedienst.de.
Other major international airports include Frankfurt and Zurich, both less than three hours away by train.
Frankfurt airport is directly connected to the highspeed railway system, so best use Frankfurt am Main Flughafen Fernbahnhof for your connection to Freiburg. Deutsche Bahn website or DB Navigator app will help you plan your trip.
- Where is the course located?
The classes take place at the University of Freiburg. The University is conveniently located in the city centre. Our course office and all classrooms are within walking distance from the central tram stop Bertoldsbrunnen.
- How can I move around Freiburg?
For frequent travellers, a practical option is the RegioKarte. To buy the RegioKarte ticket, you first need a Stammkarte from our Course Office.
