Master Seminar: Applicable AI for Health

Machine learning, with its advanced algorithms and predictive modeling capabilities, is transforming many domains, including healthcare. This seminar highlights opportunities, challenges and limitations of applying AI in clinical settings. Students will investigate state-of-the-art publications and engage in critical discussions on the unique challenges of medical data, such as limited sample sizes, noise, missing values, and potential biases.

As machine learning models are increasingly deployed in high-stakes domains such as healthcare, questions of trust, transparency, and accountability become critical. This seminar explores methods and perspectives on making AI systems understandable and reliable. Students will examine state-of-the-art approaches to interpretability and explainability, discuss how trustworthiness affects decision-making, and critically analyze challenges.
