Our research focuses on ensuring quality and increasing resource efficiency in production processes. We explore contactless optical measuring and testing methods that can be used flexibly and quickly—even in harsh environments.

We want to enable the manufacturing industry to automatically monitor processes and products in their production lines. In close collaboration with industry development departments, we create feedback methods that help companies to significantly improve their production processes.

The head of the professorship is Prof. Dr. Daniel Carl, who is also the Deputy Director and Head of the Production Control department at Fraunhofer IPM.
