DELight Experiment funded
The DELight Experiment to search for light dark matter receives funding for its first phase by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

DELight aims at detecting light dark matter particles with masses well below 1 GeV in a liquid helium target. The collaboration mainly consists of members of the southern German universities Freiburg, KIT Karlsruhe and Heidelberg. A group of six PIs, two from each institution, have now received more than 5 million EUR, to realize the first phase of DELight in the next four years from the German Research Foundation DFG. The collaborative funding instrument is the Research Unit FOR 6006 “DELight”.
The PIs from Freiburg, Marc Schumann and Sebastian Lindemann, are responsible for the following two out of six sub-projects:
- P3: Low-background environment: simulations, material selection, background model
- P4: Site and Infrastructure: underground laboratory and infrastructure, shield, slow control system
