Ihr kennt vielleicht das Internetphänomen der Sketched Explanation Videos – diese Videos, die mit Zeichnungen arbeiten und in denen immer wieder Hände zu sehen sind. Oft sind in den Videos kleine Rahmengeschichten integriert, die zeigen wie man das zu lernende Wissen nutzen kann. Wir haben dieses Format als emotionale Design-Möglichkeit genutzt um beim Betrachter Interesse zu induzieren, aufrechtzuerhalten und somit das Lernen über längere Zeit oder unter widrigen Umständen zu fördern. Die Idee für weitere Studien wäre, emotionales Design besser zu verstehen und näher zu beleuchten wie eine effektive Rahmengeschichte aussehen kann.

Emotional Design klingt gut aber du interessierst dich zusätzlich für Klinische Themen? Wir haben schon Hinweise gefunden, dass Emotionales Design Lernende interessieren und so die Selbstregulation beim Lernen erleichtern kann. Durch Symptome von Aufmerksamkeitsstörungen, wie zum Beispiel die dysfunktionale Regulierung der Anstrengungsbereitschaft, sind Aufgaben mit höheren Anforderungen an die Selbstregulation für Betroffene besonders schwierig zu meistern. Eine mögliche Studie wäre hier zu untersuchen, ob Lernmaterial das interessensförderlich gestaltet ist, ein passendes instruktionales Instrument sein könnte, um Kinder mit Aufmerksamkeitsstörungen direkt in der Lernsituation zu unterstützen.

Multitasking und episodisches Gedächtnis

In unserem Alltag sind wir manchmal damit konfrontiert, mehrere Aufgaben gleichzeitig auszuführen oder schnell zwischen ihnen zu wechseln. Diese Art der Aufgabenausführung nennt man Multitasking. Aus der bisherigen Forschung wissen wir, dass die Aufgabenleistung in der Regel durch Multitasking reduziert ist. Multitasking gilt als herausfordernd und bedarf erhöhter kognitiver Kontrolle. Was jedoch weniger bekannt ist, sind die Effekte von Multitasking auf episodisches Gedächtnis. Die Idee der vorgeschlagenen Arbeit ist es, zu überprüfen, inwieweit Multitasking das Wiedererkennen von Bildern beeinflusst und inwieweit sich die Qualität von Erinnerungen in Abhängigkeit von verschiedenen Multitasking-Settings verändert.

Emotional Design im Text

Keine Lust auf Videos? Emotional Design kann nicht nur in Videos umgesetzt werden.  Emotionales Design entfaltet seine lernförderliche Wirkung über Interesse, das unter anderem durch emotionale Gestaltungselemente im Lernmaterial getriggert werden kann. Die Wirkung von Emotional Design kann auf Lerntexte übertragbar sein, indem emotionale Gestaltungselemente in deren Typographie eingebettet werden.  Ideen für Studien wären also Emotional Design im Format Text besser zu verstehen und mögliche Wirkfaktoren zu identifizieren.

There is a lot of research on Sustainability Education, but its impact in the classroom remains low. The way evidence on Sustainability Education is communicated to those who can translate it into practice (such as teachers, but also other professionals, students, or interested citizens) needs improvement. Teachers in particular are a very busy audience, often without the time or motivation to read full academic papers or multiple articles on Sustainability Education to find what is relevant for their work. Science communication therefore needs to apply motivational and audience-centered strategies. Supporting target groups in discovering both interest and practical value in scientific evidence is essential.

The aim of this skill is to learn how to design and produce a short, animated, engaging, and audience-tailored video on Sustainability Education.

Task: You will prepare, write, and animate a short science communication video on Sustainability Education. During this process, you will first explore the needs of your chosen target group—such as teachers or another relevant audience. You will learn how to summarize and translate scientific evidence into a tailored narrative for this specific group, and then create a basic animated video using VideoScribe.

Course Work: The completed video communicating a topic of Sustainability Education will be one outcome of this skill. The second outcome will be a written report describing the characteristics of the audience, how these are addressed in the video, and how the underlying motivational theory is applied.

This skill focuses on exploring professional fields in psychology through expert interviews. In this example, students investigate the field of school psychology by conducting an in-depth interview with a practicing school psychologist. The aim is to gain insight into the practical work, challenges, and required competencies in this field and to use this knowledge for informed career orientation.

Task: You independently prepare, conduct, and document an expert interview with a professional working in school psychology (e.g., via telephone, e-mail, or in-person). You develop interview questions, analyze the content of the conversation, and reflect on the insights gained regarding your own career goals and interests.

Course work: A written report including (a) a summary of key interview insights and (b) a reflective section discussing personal career orientation based on the findings.
