Dwayne Lieck is a second-year PhD student in Educational Psychology at the University of Freiburg. He is completing his PhD as part of the DFG research group FOR 5254 in the project “Lasting Learning in Physics through Contructive Retrieval” led by Prof. Alexander Renkl [Uni Freiburg] and Prof. Claudia von Aufschnaiter [JLU Giessen]. In this research, the group conducts classroom experiments on effective instructional design to improve lasting learning in schools. In addition, he has worked and continues to work in both meta-science and open science projects. For example hosting the Freiburg Open Science conference in May 2025 with Dr. Tino Endres [University of Zurich & Uni Freiburg] and Prof. Andrea Kiesel [Uni Freiburg], as well as in his project “Effect Size Interpretation in Educational Research” with Prof. Daniel Lakens [TU Eindhoven] and Dr. Tino Endres [University of Zurich & Uni Freiburg]. Additionally, he teaches Educational Psychology and supervises Bachelor’s theses as well as empirical internship projects.
