Vinzenz Benz

Vinzenz Benz is a first-year external PhD student at the University of Freiburg. In his primary Job, he works as Regional Director for School Development at Berufsfachschulen Heimerer GmbH, lead educational development in Bavaria, Saxony, and North Rhine-Westphalia. For him, an important aspect of this work is fostering strong connections and collaboration between schools and the scientific community. His PhD project investigates a training program for metacognitive and motivational self-regulation, with a particular focus on the collaboration between apprentices, teachers, instructors, and generative AI. In addition, he is currently part of the research team at the University of Tübingen working on the project Generative AI in Vocational Education and Training, led by Dr. Tim Fütterer. Within this project, the team is developing a chatbot designed to foster motivation and self-regulation through reflective prompts focusing on goal setting and utility value in the learning process. After the project is completed, the chatbot will be made freely available for use in the field of Vocational Education and Training. Furthermore, he works as a lecturer in subject-specific didactics.
