The Faculty of Economics and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Freiburg combines innovative research with diverse and practice-oriented teaching. It brings together perspectives from economics, psychology, sports science, and educational science in an interdisciplinary exchange. We address current societal issues, human behavior, and decision-making in various sociocultural and economic contexts.

At the faculty, excellent, internationally visible, and application-oriented fundamental research is produced, anchored in the key focus areas of the University of Freiburg’s research profile. Our research and teaching have a productive impact on society and strengthen dialogue with a wide range of societal stakeholders.

Prof. Dr. Hannah Schildberg-Hörisch

University of Düsseldorf, was offered the W3 professorship in microeconomics (successor to Eggert).

Prof. Dr. Monika Schönauer

Junior Professor Dr. Monika Schönauer (University of Freiburg) was offered the W3 professorship in neuropsychology. She was appointed University Professor in the field of Neuropsychology effective January 27, 2026.

Prof. Dr. Martin Daumiller

(previously University Professor at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich) was appointed University Professor in the field of Educational Psychology effective September 1, 2025.

Prof. Dr. Kristina Strohmaier

University of Duisburg-Essen, has accepted the call to the W3 professorship in public finance (successor to Raffelhüschen).
