Description

This teaching and coordination position is part of the core team of the LAS program. The lecturer/coordinator will be responsible for teaching and coordinating the LAS Major “Environmental and Sustainability Sciences” that focuses on the interactions and interdependencies between human activities and the environment. The Major has a strong focus on sustainability, understood as a question of balancing environmental, social, and economic objectives. The teaching load is approximately 8 SWS (including supervision of projects and theses). Furthermore, the coordination includes among others organization of the courses offered by external teaching fellows, advising students, participating in the development of the LAS program and major. Please note that the position is not research-oriented.

We expect candidates to have

at minimum an M.Sc. (or equivalent), preferably a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences or in an area relevant to the Major (e.g. Ecology, Biology with a focus on the Environment, or other natural sciences with relevant focus)
experience in teaching and in the supervision of student projects
very good English and proficiency in German, strong intercultural communication competencies
organizational skills, creativity, and flexibility in international and interdisciplinary contexts

Candidates with interdisciplinary academic experience and a proven interest in innovative approaches to higher education will be given precedence.

The successful candidate is expected to start on December 1, 2024. The salary will be determined in accordance with E13 TV-L.

The contract will first run until the end of maternity protection and subsequently until the end of parental leave (currently expected to be November 30, 2025 with the possibility of extension).
