Sinologie (Sinology)

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) – 2 field degree program - Minor Field

Sinology at the University of Freiburg offers a comprehensive introduction to China’s past and present. Students acquire advanced proficiency in the Chinese language while developing a deep understanding of China’s history, political system, and social dynamics. The Bachelor’s programme in Sinology (minor) offers two tracks. The “Chinese Language and China Studies” track combines basic Chinese with study of modern and contemporary China. The “China Studies” track focuses on disciplinary courses and thematic analysis, without a language component. The programme equips students with knowledge and skills for China-related careers. Graduates work in the private sector, public administration, international and non-governmental organisations, foundations, media, museums, cultural exchange institutions, and translation services.
