The B.A. Minor in Ancient Near Eastern Studies examines the cultures of ancient Southwest Asia from early sedentary societies to the pre-Islamic period, focusing on material remains, written sources, settlements, and landscapes.The B.A. Minor in Ancient Near Eastern Studies examines the cultures of ancient Southwest Asia from early sedentary societies to the pre-Islamic period, focusing on material remains, written sources, settlements, and landscapes. The programme combines archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern philology in an interdisciplinary approach. Students learn Akkadian and cuneiform, develop scholarly methods, and work hands-on with finds and texts, cultivating independent work, critical thinking, and career readiness. Graduates gain analytical and interdisciplinary skills to contextualise finds and texts historically. Careers include museums, excavations, tourism, heritage, and cultural management. The programme also provides a solid foundation for further study or Master’s programmes.
