Sport (Physical Education)

Master of Education (M.Ed.)

Sport, movement, and physical activity are central components of school-based education. The Master of Education in Sport (Physical Education) at the University of Freiburg specifically prepares students for a career as a physical education teacher, alongside a second subject. The programme focuses on deepening your knowledge in natural and social sciences as well as medical perspectives related to sport, movement, and health. In addition, students develop competencies in scientific research methods and in pedagogical practice, enabling a reflective and evidence-based approach to the design and delivery of physical education. The degree programme qualifies graduates to enter the practical training phase for teacher education for Gymnasium and thereby qualify for a professional role as a physical education teacher at Gymnasium (secondary school type in Germany).
