Romanische Sprachen und Literaturen (Romance languages and literatures)

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) – 2 field degree program - Minor Field

The Romance Languages and Literatures minor offers foundational knowledge of the languages, literatures, and cultures of the Romance world, with a core focus on at least one Romance language. Students start a Romance language from scratch or deepen a language they already know. The minor provides a solid introduction to analysing linguistic structures, literary texts, and cultural-historical developments, combining language practice with academic methods to develop critical and contextual understanding of the Romance-speaking world. The minor develops linguistic proficiency, analytical thinking, and intercultural sensitivity, complementing many majors. These skills are valued in cultural, media, and educational sectors, as well as international professions, and prepare students for advanced study in linguistic and cultural disciplines.
