Certificates (enrolment, study progress, studies/BAföG) can be accessed and printed from your account in HISinOne.

As long as you are enrolled, you can also print out certificates for past (registered) semesters yourself on HISinOne. This applies to certificates from the 2004/05 winter semester onwards (inclusive). To do this, select the relevant semester.

Study certificates for the 2004 summer semester and earlier are only available directly from the Registration Office. After disenrolment, retroactive enrolment and study certificates are subject to a fee (currently 5,00 euro per certificate). Please contact your administrator.

When contacting us by email or telephone, or when visiting us in person during our office hours, please always have your matriculation or application number ready.

Certification of documents for use abroad (apostille)

Documents issued by the University of Freiburg can only be recognised abroad if they have a special certification, known as an apostille. The following steps are necessary for this:

Pre-certification by the university

The copy of the document intended for certification by means of an apostille must be pre-certified by the University of Freiburg. The University of Freiburg can only pre-certify documents issued by the university itself, but not documents relating to state examinations.

Pre-certification can be carried out by the examination office responsible for your degree programme or by the Registration Office at the Service Center Studium. Pre-certification is free of charge.

Registration Office

If you have already received a copy certified by the university, you can use this copy for the apostille, provided that the certification bears the official seal of the university and confirms that the copy matches the original.

Certification by means of an apostille by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK)

The pre-certified copy must then be finally certified by the MWK and provided with an apostille. The MWK charges fees for the apostille in the amount of 13,00 euro.
