The University of Freiburg at the Käpsele Innovation Festival 2025

On 26 June 2025, the Käpsele Innovation Festival invites scientists, founders and entrepreneurs to exchange ideas on topics such as new work, artificial intelligence, robotics and green technologies. The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Freiburg will also be in attendance.

The Käpsele Innovation Festival will take place on 26 June 2025 at the SICK Arena (Freiburg Exhibition Centre). The event is aimed at entrepreneurs, founders and scientists, offering them a platform for professional exchange and networking. The focus will be on topics such as new work, artificial intelligence, medical technology, robotics, green technologies and digitalisation. Speakers from various companies will give presentations, and Prof. Dr. Thomas Stieglitz, Head of the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) and spokesperson for the BrainLinks-BrainTools Cluster of Excellence at the University of Freiburg, will give an interview to the Badische Zeitung newspaper on the podcast stage.

The University is also represented at three interactive stations that invite visitors to participate:

  • Sustainable robotics: technology meets nature (Junior Prof. Dr. Edoardo Milana, IMTEK)
  • AI-controlled robotics: intelligent interaction with the environment (Prof. Dr. Abhinav Valada, Department of Computer Science)
  • Innovative medical technology: control via muscle signals (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Stieglitz, IMTEK)

About the Käpsele Innovation Festival

The Käpsele Innovation Festival is a joint event organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Southern Upper Rhine region, Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe (Freiburg Commerce, Tourism and Convention Centre), among others. The University of Freiburg is a participating partner.
