Information on content and working methods
“Since my childhood I have been interested in these very small inhabitants of the earth and even as a child I collected all the dead insects by the wayside to preserve them with my mother’s nail polish and so they populated my doll’s house – not exactly to my mother’s delight. To this day, the theme of insects is still very present in my art.
Always endeavoring to work on socially relevant content with the means of art and thus give it a multi-perspective, as is inherent in works of art, insects have taken on a different context in my work in recent years:
It is no longer just my personal playful interest in them that plays a role but, embedded in the current problems of species protection and insect decline, they take on a kind of alarm function in my works, as their dramatic decline is closely linked to the other major problems of our time such as climate change and environmental protection.”
