Katja Kröner was honoured by the Sattelmühle Foundation for her master’s thesis in the field of forest science and nature conservation. These awards are part of the foundation’s commitment in supporting young researchers and recognising innovative work in the forestry sciences. In total, three prizes were awarded for a bachelor’s thesis, a master’s thesis and a PhD thesisis at the awards ceremony as part of the Zukunftswerkstadt at the 18th KWF conference in Schwarzenborn/Hesse.
Katja Kröner was honoured for her master’s thesis at the Chair of Forest Growth and Dendroecology. She investigated the influence of crown morphology and branch architecture on the growth of beech trees under drought stress. Her work contributes to a better understanding and promotion of the adaptability of beech trees to climate change. The Sattelmühle foundation has been funding innovative research and projects in the fields of nature conservation, landscape management and forestry since 2012 in order to ensure the protection and preservation of natural habitats.
