About Us

The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) is the international research college of the University of Freiburg. It brings together scholars from Freiburg and around the world, offering temporary fellowships that allow researchers to focus entirely on their projects within a vibrant community of diverse cultural and academic backgrounds. FRIAS provides exceptional support to help fellows succeed.

FRIAS offers funding programmes for promising research projects. These programmes are open to members of the University of Freiburg as well as researchers from other institutions worldwide. FRIAS also organizes events that involve its fellows, university members, and the general public, enriching the academic and cultural life of the community.

FRIAS is dedicated to promoting high-quality research, enhancing international collaboration, and fostering the exchange of ideas among scholars from various fields.
