Research

You have to say goodbye to what you want to recognise and measure, at least for a while. Only when you have left the city will you see how high its towers rise above the houses.

Private Law

The Department of German Legal History conducts research on the German Civil Code as the core of private law as well as on private insurance law and the legal-theoretical (liberalism), historical (history of private law) and comparative foundations (English common law, Switzerland and China) of private law.

Research Projects

Law of obligations and property law

The expansion of the textbook on the special law of obligations into a compact textbook on the entire law of obligations has priority. Sections in the Munich Commentary on the German Civil Code (Münchener Kommentar zum BGB) on unilateral contracts, mandate, negotiorum gestio, possession and pledge on chattle and rights influence legal practice. In addition, doctoral theses are devoted to the law of obligations and property law.
