Pediatric emergencies pose a particular challenge, as the rapid pace of events makes effective teamwork essential. Simulation training offers a good opportunity to acquire skills for emergency situations. However, this comes at a high cost in terms of resources.
Virtual reality emergency trainings enables realistic simulations with a high learning effect and can be used as blended learning to supplement “traditional” simulation training. PAVIN is a blended learning concept with e-learning elements and VR simulations for interprofessional teams of medical, nursing, and midwifery students, as well as nursing trainees. In addition to learning medical skills, there is a particular focus on interprofessional communication and resource management within the team. The high degree of reproducibility and objectivity enables individual feedback and use as a partially digital examination format.
PAVIN is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Arts and the Stifterverband as part of the 2024 “Fellowships for Teaching Innovation in Baden-Württemberg” program. Further information on PAVIN can be found on the Stifterverband’s Fellowships for University Teaching page.
