Sick note, withdrawal from exams
Any withdrawal from or absence from an examination due to illness must be reported to the examination board immediately. Provided the requirements for approval are met, the examination board may grant your request for withdrawal.
(a) Withdrawal due to illness: A certificate of inability to take the exam (pdf) must be submitted.
(b) Withdrawal for other reasons: Please send a corresponding informal and signed application with justification to the examination office.
A request for withdrawal must be submitted immediately, and no later than the day of the exam. An official sick note must be submitted to the examination office no later than three working days after the exam. If you are too ill to submit it yourself, please send a fellow student, friend, or family member.
If approved, the exam attempt will not be counted towards the number of attempts and the examination office will make a mandatory registration for the next possible exam date.
Please note:
By participating in an oral or written examination, you are indicating that you are fit to take the examination. A medical certificate submitted after the examination cannot be accepted.

Recognition of academic achievements and examination results
If you wish to have credits transferred from studies at another university, in a different degree program, or from a period of study abroad, please submit a completed application for recognition to the examination office. You should also include proof of academic performance (e.g., a transcript-of-records) and a summary of the coursework (e.g., an excerpt from the module handbook), as well as, in the case of credit transfers from a period of study abroad, a copy of the learning agreement.
The examination committee will decide on the transfer of credits.
Plagiarism, deception, disruption of examinations
Plagiarism and scientific misconduct
If examiners determine that scientific misconduct has occurred in a course work or during an exam, this is considered an attempt to deceive and must be reported to the examination office immediately.
Scientific misconduct occurs, for example, when
- Data and/or research results were fabricated or falsified,
- scientific achievements from others have been appropriated without authorization, or content from third parties has been adopted without identification and adequate source citation (plagiarism).
This includes, for example, written assignments, internship reports, seminar presentations, etc.
The work will be marked “fail” with the reason “attempt to cheat (TV).” The student will receive notification from the examination office informing them of the failure due to cheating. In serious or repeated cases, the examination committee may exclude the student from taking further examinations.
Final theses must include a declaration confirming that the work was written independently and without sources other than those indicated.
Cheating in exams
If examiners discover that an exam has been copied or that unauthorized aids have been used, this is considered an attempt to cheat and must be reported to the examination office immediately upon discovery.
The eam will be marked as “fail” with the reason “attempt to cheat (TV).” The student will receive notification from the examination office informing them of the failure due to cheating. In serious or repeated cases, the examination committee may exclude the student from taking further examinations.
Disturbance during an exam
A student who disrupts the orderly conduct of an examination may be excluded from continuing the examination by the examiner. In this case, the examination will be marked as “fail (grade 5.0)”. In serious or repeated cases, the examination committee may exclude the student from taking further examinations.
