to contribute to the research project "Scientific Discourse in Medieval Vernacular Texts," funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. The project aims to explore dialogicity in medieval vernacular texts and its significance for understanding medieval scientific discourse.
Responsibilities:
The Postdoctoral Researcher will be responsible for the data-modelling study on the rhetorical, aesthetic, grammatical, and logical structures of dialogues in medieval texts. This will involve:
Developing and implementing data models.
Analyzing data using existing digitized corpora and OCR4all for HTR processes.
Digitizing texts that are not yet digitized.
Collaborating with Prof. Dr. Racha Kirakosian and other team members.
Developing new teaching models.
Preparing and presenting research findings at conferences and in publications.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Medieval German, Historical Linguistics or another historically orientated subject.
Substantial experience in Digital Humanities.
Strong skills in data modeling and analysis.
Experience with text digitization.
Excellent command of German and English.
Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Terms of Appointment:
The position is a full-time appointment for 48 months, starting from October 1, 2025. Salary will be according to the German TV-L E13 scale.
