Profile
The doctoral candidate (DC) will develop CMOS-integrated neural interface ASICs for distributed brain stimulation and recording. The work will include the design of architectures for inter-implant communication and synchronization, development of arbitrary-waveform stimulation and low-noise recording front-ends, and conception of on-chip neural data pre-processing for embedded operation in the implant. The DC will advance the hardware from specification and architecture to layout, fabrication, and rigorous electrical verification. Ideally, the DC holds an MSc degree in electrical engineering with specialization in microelectronics and strong interest in signal processing and biomedical interfaces. Moreover, very good written and spoken English language skills (B2 level) are a must.
Requirements for being eligible for submitting an application for a position as a doctoral candidate in "Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action - Doctoral Network"
- Doctoral candidates can be of any nationality;
- Doctoral candidates should not be in possession of a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment;
- Doctoral candidates need to comply with the mobility rule
(no residence or main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 36 months before their recruitment date); - Upon acceptance, any doctoral candidate must enroll in a doctoral program in at least one EU Member State/Associated Country;
Salary
An attractive salary in accordance with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action regulations for doctoral candiates is offered. The monthly gross salary includes 4,058.12 € per month Living Allowance (= 4,010 € * 1.012 correction factor Germany), 710 € Mobility Allowance and 660 € per month Familiy Allowance (if applicable).
Please note that all compulsory national contributions (social security, pension, insurances, taxes etc.) to be borne by the employer and employee shall be deducted from the abovementioned amounts in line with Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action rules. These deductions vary between countries and institutions.
The position is limited to three years within the time frame 01.04.2026 - 31.12.2029. The latest possible start date is therefore January 1st, 2027. The salary will be determined in accordance with Marie-Curie Contract.
