About the project
The ESG4Stars project aims at reducing the environmental footprint of scientific computing and data analysis on European research infrastructure.
It will do so through a list of optimizations at the compute, data transfer and data storage level. The project will also deliver methods for tracking energy costs of analysis steps to quantify the impact of optimization measures, provide training material nudging scientists towards more sustainable data analysis pipeline setups and publish a "green-ready" checklist for research infrastructure providers.
Work will be organized in three streams and nine work packages (two for project coordination and seven for technical developments).
Your Tasks Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Project administration, management and coordination
○ Organize, lead, and document all project management meetings with partners, the managing board, following the Consortium Agreement and the project planning documents.
○ Monitor the progress of the work packages through regular meetings. Ensure progress transparency by regularly checking in with work packages and task leaders, and sharing results with all partners.
○ Ensure that the tasks and milestones are implemented and completed successfully within the planned timelines and allocated budget. Respond to partners' requests to adjust the planned timelines and allocated budget, ensuring all actions and costs are aligned with the Grant Agreement and eligible for the action.
○ Ensure effective and continuous reporting, achievement of project aims, and timely submission of deliverables.
○ Organize events and meetings to facilitate the smooth running of the project activities and aims, as needed.
Financial management
○ Ensure that the project will run within its dedicated budget and that cost statements are reported on time. Disseminate existing guidelines and templates among the consortium partners and provide support when needed.
○ Management of timely delivery and follow-up of administrative and financial documents. Together with the finance team, review the accuracy of the reporting documents and provide feedback to the partners.
○ Ensure effective cost control and EC requirements. Ensure payment of instalments based on the accuracy of the financial reporting.
○ Official contact point to the EC.
○ Communication with the EU office at the University of Freiburg.
Communication & Dissemination
○ Content creation and website maintenance.
○ Disseminate the project outcomes within well-established networks and scientific communities.
○ Supports the organization of training events carried out during the project.
● Contribute to proposal writing and other ongoing EU projects as required.
Your Profile
● University degree or education in project management.
● Familiarity with the academic environment.
● Experience in managing EU-funded project consortia.
● Experience in project management or coordination tasks.
● Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is a must, German will be of advantage.
● High commitment, analytical thinking, problem-solving, reliability, strong team orientation, flexibility and very good self-organization skills.
