Team

The Transformational Sustainability Science Group is an interdisciplinary group, with the core team being trained in transformational sustainability science. Members of the TSS Group have contributed to the evolution of sustainability science since its inception in the early 2000s.

Education & Training

The Group designs and delivers programs that equip researchers and practitioners with procedures and skills to co-produce knowledge for sustainability solutions to pressing problems, using pedagogies that are solutions-oriented, competency-based, and project-focused.

Mission

The mission of the Transformational Sustainability Science Group is to advance and institutionalize transformational sustainability science through certain activities.

Research

The activities of the Transformational Sustainability Science Group focus on advancing the theory, practice of transformational sustainability research and education.

Publications

The publications of the Transformational Sustainability Science Group cover three areas: theory and methods for transformational sustainability science; solutions-oriented and competency-based learning in sustainability education; and mechanisms for change, such as crises, as opportunities for sustainability. In each area, we present the literature along an underpinning framework.

Network

The Group engages in sustainability education and research collaborations at the University of Freiburg, in the region, and internationally.
