The IMBS program is tailored to the interests of international graduate students with professional experience. It is a joint program between the University of Freiburg (ALU) and University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in Argentina, which is a worldwide high ranking University in South America (Double Degree).

The program is designed as an intensive time of studies and research with specific and practical training that qualifies for success in academia or the private sector. In addition, in Freiburg the students can choose up to two personal lab research projects (lab rotations) of a total duration of 4 months. Each research project is individually supervised and has to last at least 2 months. It involves experimental work, data analysis and a written lab report in the format of a scientific research publication for each lab research project.

The aim of the IMBS program is to convey scientific knowledge and state-of-the-art experimental experience to current and emerging biomedical research areas with a focus on translational research and development.

The students will have practical skills and competences to master relevant research methods considering bioethical, intercultural and state of the art aspects. They will gain the ability to apply knowledge in a variety of contexts to analyse and reach evidence-based conclusions on complex human research problems.

For successful graduates, career opportunities arise either at universities in teaching and research or at governmental or private companies in pharmaceutical biomedical research, consulting or project work.
