Profession-Oriented Competencies (BOK)

Your introduction to practice
The BOK courses complement your degree programme and invite you to develop your competencies and try out new things. You learn to extend your own strengths and your resources specifically across disciplinary boundaries and in a practical direction and to prepare for various professional and societal contexts.
We offer a comprehensive range of courses in the areas Communication, Management, Media, IT, and Foreign Languages. The BOK courses help you to actively shape your future and society, whether you’re taking a required course for your bachelor’s programme or extending your qualifications on a voluntary basis. We would be happy to advise you in selecting courses.
Information for voluntary participants
Would you like to take advantage of our courses on a voluntary basis and do not need any (more) ECTS credits or SQ certificates?
As a student with a valid student ID number and a university account, you can take advantage of many of our courses directly – including Service Learning, the Sustainability Certificate, Internship Plus, and other practical modules. These freely accessible formats give you opportunities to discover new perspectives, gain practical experience, and strengthen your personal and social competence.
For courses in the BOK course area, you can submit your registration requests during the open admission phase, as soon as the priority registration phase for students who still need to earn credits in this area has ended. You train competencies with future relevance and shape your individual profile for studies, career, and social involvement.
Details on registration are available here.

- What additional qualifications would support me in achieving my goals?
- What vocational fields would I like to learn more about?
- What areas would I like to extend my strengths in?
- Where do I see potential for my development?

Evaluations
All of our courses are evaluated regularly by the participants and the lecturors. The basis for the evaluation is the University’s core questionnaire, complemented by additional internal questions.
