Welcome!
ACT, the Africa Center for Transregional Research at the University of Freiburg, is one of the scientific centers of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and a center of excellence for transregional, reciprocal African studies and social exchange.
ACT aims to contribute to the reduction of global asymmetries in knowledge production. Reciprocity in research is a guiding principle in ACT’s activities and forms the basis for a new form of cooperation between German, European, and African researchers.
ACT hosts African researchers and has set itself the goal of establishing a differentiated picture of African reality in the general public. In addition, ACT is a competence, service, and information center for European African studies in teaching, research, and innovation.
