GM-01 Cell Biology
For the exercise “Anatomy and Histology of Plants” we need a total of 6 tutors every winter semester to supervise the practical exercises.
General conditions
The exercises take place on the following weekdays in the afternoon:
Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday
and extend over 6 weeks in the first half of the semester.
The tutors will each provide tutorial support for 6 course weeks/1-2 weekdays.
Each tutor is responsible for approx. 30 students.
Requirements
Prerequisite is the successful participation in GM-01 Cell Biology including the corresponding exercise. In addition, we expect a committed contribution, proactive guidance of the students and a critical and informed view of the drawings.
Payment
Each tutor receives remuneration amounting to a total of 33 or 66 HiWi hours (see remuneration table below).

GM-02 Genetics and Molecular Biology
For the GM-02 module, we need a total of 15 tutors each winter semester to supervise the practical exercises. In addition, we need 2 students for course preparation with 30 hours in November and 30 hours in January.
General conditions
The exercises take place on the following weekdays in the afternoon:
Tuesday and Wednesday 13:00-18:00 h
Thursday and Friday 14:00-19:00 h
and extend over 3 weeks in December and 1 week in January.
The tutors are expected to provide tutorial support for 1-4 complete course weeks. Individual days are not possible
Each tutor is responsible for approx. 10-20 students.
Requirements
Students must have already successfully completed the module themselves and have a particular interest in genetics.
Payment
Each tutor receives a total of 20 hours of work experience per week (see remuneration table below).

For the module GM-06 Morphology and Systematics, we need a total of 12 tutors each summer semester to supervise the practical exercises.

GM-10 Zoology and Evolution of Animals | Zoological identification exercises
For the GM-10 module, we need a total of 16 tutors each winter semester to supervise the zoological identification exercises.
General conditions
The exercises take place on the following weekdays in the afternoon:

and extend over seven weeks in the first half of the semester.
The tutors are to provide tutorial support for one or two weekdays (the number of weekdays can be determined by the tutors themselves) over seven course weeks.
Each tutor is responsible for approx. 15-20 students.
Requirements
Interested students should have successfully completed GM-10 themselves and familiarize themselves with the course material before each week of the course. The tutors usually meet once a week and go through the course material covered in the coming week’s course together.
Payment
Each tutor receives remuneration amounting to a total of 32 HiWi hours per supervised weekday (see remuneration table below).

GM-10 Zoology and Evolution of Animals | Blueprints of invertebrates
For the module GM-10 we need a total of 18 tutors every winter semester to supervise the exercise “Blueprits of invertebrates”.
General conditions
The exercises take place on the following weekdays from 13:15 to 18:00:
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday
and extend over six weeks in the second half of the semester.
The tutors are to provide tutorial support for one or two weekdays (the number of weekdays can be determined by the tutors themselves) over six course weeks.
Each tutor is responsible for approx. 10-12 students.
Requirements
Interested students should have successfully completed the GM-10 or a comparable internship at another university.
Before each part of the exercise, the tutors will conduct a tutorial with the students in their group. During the exercise, the tutors guide the students in the preparation of invertebrates and drawing of microscopic permanent preparations and then correct the drawings made.
Payment
Each tutor receives remuneration amounting to a total of 52 HiWi hours per supervised weekday (see remuneration table below).

GM-11b Animal Physiology

GM-14 Mikrobiology, Immunobiology and Biochemistry | Basic microbiology course
For the GM-14 module, we require four tutors per course day each summer semester to supervise the practical exercises.
General conditions
The exercises take place on the following weekdays, each afternoon from approx. 13:00 – 18:30 (including preparation on the respective course days):

and extend over six weeks in the first half of the semester, with an additional 2.5 hours required each Thursday morning for course preparation for the following week.
If possible, the tutors should provide tutorial support for all six weeks of the course and thus all four days of the week. If only two or three days are possible, it would have to be discussed whether a substitute can be provided on the other days.
Requirements
The prerequisite is at least GM-14 or the equivalent module from another university.

Each tutor receives remuneration amounting to a total of 148 student hours (see remuneration table below).

GM-15 Developmental Biology
For the GM-15 Developmental Biology module, we need a total of eight tutors each summer semester to supervise the practical exercises.
General conditions
The exercises take place on the following weekdays in the afternoon:
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday (on two alternative dates due to public holiday Friday instead of Thursday)
and extend over twelve weeks in the entire summer semester.
Ideally, the tutors should provide tutorial support for at least two weekdays.
Each tutor is responsible for approximately twelve students.

Tutors should have successfully completed this module or a comparable one at another university and of course be interested in the subject matter

GM-16 Ecology | Zoological field exercises
For the GM-16 module, we need a total of twelve tutors each summer semester to supervise the zoological excursions.
General conditions
The excursions take place on four weeks spread over the semester from Monday to Friday, primarily in the afternoon; Fridays are an exception, as there are two excursions on Fridays (one in the morning and one in the afternoon):

The tutors can supervise one or more groups and must be available on the four excursion weeks on the days on which they supervise the students. The four weeks in which the excursions are carried out vary from year to year and can be inquired about in advance.
Each supervisor is responsible for approximately ten students.
Requirements
Interested students should have successfully completed GM-16 themselves. Tutors are expected to record student attendance, help students identify arthropods in the field as far as possible and check the students’ protocols and obtain a revision if necessary. Before starting the tutorial accompaniment of the excursions, a preventive medical check-up at the company medical service is necessary (vaccination against TBE).

EDS Experimental Design and Statistics
For the module “Experimental Design & Statistics” we need a total of 2 tutors every winter semester to supervise the practical exercises.
General conditions
The exercises take place on the following weekdays:
Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday (morning) Thursday (afternoon)
In the winter semester 2023, the course will take place on the following dates
1st week: 29.01. to 01.02.2024
2nd week: 12. to 15.02.2024
3rd week: 11. to 14.03.2024
Each tutor:
- tutors approx. 30 students on a fixed weekday (Mon/Thu/Mi) in the three weeks mentioned above, together with another teacher
- accompanies approx. 50 students with their homework on a single Thursday, together with another teacher
- corrects homework after each tutoring week
Requirements
We are looking for Master’s or PhD students with a sound knowledge of applied statistics (e.g. related to work or research in biology, ecology, neuroscience or environmental science) and experience with R.
The language of instruction is English. German language skills are helpful but not required.

Biology for medical students
We need tutors for the “Biology for medical students” course
General conditons
The course, 1st semester human medicine, takes place from November 13, 2023 to January 25, 2024.
It takes place from Mondays to Fridays from 1:30 pm to approx. 5:30 pm.
The time allocation of the course tutors in the course weeks and course afternoons allows a certain flexibility and is done in consultation with the lecturers.
Requirements
The course tutors are expected to be committed, proactively guide the students in the experimental part and take a critical and informed look at the drawings and protocols.
The course can be supervised from the 3rd semester (Bachelor).
Payment
Depending on the time allocation, from 20 to approx. 40 hours per month and according to qualifications. (See remuneration table below).
