Description

Project Overview

The position is part of an interdisciplinary research program investigating how brain oscillations and cardiac signals interact during sleep and contribute to memory consolidation.

Brain Oscillation Modulation & Heart–Brain Dynamics

Assessing how targeted modulation of brain rhythms influences physiological coupling between the brain and heart.
Working with sleep EEG, heart rate, pulse data, and closed-loop stimulation paradigms.
Examining heartbeat-evoked potentials (HEPs) and their relationship to ongoing brain oscillations.
Investigating how cardiac cycle phase affects cognitive processes, including memory retention during and after sleep.

Your Tasks

EEG prepreprocessing, source analysis and postprocessing
Heart rate, pulse and respiratory data analysis
Task-based fMRI (most likely in later stages)
Heart rate and pulse analysis
Implementing MATLAB/Python scripts
Literature review and documentation

Required Skills

Good programming skills in MATLAB or Python
Knowledge of EEG or fMRI analysis (MNE, EEGLAB, SPM, FieldTrip, or similar)
Interest in sleep research, interoception, cognitive neuroscience, or psychophysiology
Reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn advanced analysis methods

Opportunities
