** Certificates of completion earned during the current semester must be submitted electronically by 20 March for the summer semester and by 20 September for the winter semester. ONLY for applications for the 5th semester in human medicine, dentistry and pharmacy (= 1st clinical semester), the certificate for the first section of the medical, dental or pharmaceutical examination must be submitted electronically to the university by 31 March at the latest for a summer semester and by 30 September at the latest for a winter semester for consideration in the top-up procedure. This is also necessary if the examinations were taken at a foreign university and recognised by the responsible state examination office.
For some degree programmes, you must take an entrance examination before applying, or you can take a test:
Sport/Sport Science – For further information, please refer to the department’s website.
Human medicine and dentistry – Test for medical degree programmes (TMS)
Pharmacy – Study aptitude test for the pharmacy degree programme (PhaST)
Psychology – Psychology study aptitude test (BaPsy-DGPs)
Lottery procedure
If places are still available after the last procedure for subsequent admissions, they are allocated by lottery. Applications to participate in the lottery must be submitted electronically and separately for each desired degree programme.
The application period for the winter semester is from 1 September to 30 September.
The application period for the summer semester is from 1 March to 31 March.
Applications received after these deadlines will not be considered. Applicants who are not EU citizens and do not have a German Abitur certificate are not eligible to participate in the lottery procedure.
Applications for the lottery procedure must be submitted via the online application portal.

The University of Freiburg must receive the application for the exchange of study places and all accompanying documents by post by the specified deadlines. Please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Re‑registration
Re‑registration deadline for the winter semester
01 June – 15 August
If payment is received between 16 August and 20 September, a late fee (currently €10.00) will be applied.
Re‑registration deadline for the summer semester
15 January – 15 February
If payment is received between 16 February and 20 March, a late fee (currently €10.00) will be applied.
If you do not re‑register, obtain a leave of absence, or disenrol yourself by 20 March (or 20 September), we must disenrol you ex officio.
