British and North American Cultural Studies

Master of Arts (M.A.)

The MA programme in British and North American Cultural Studies focuses on the theory and practice of English-speaking cultures in Great Britain and North America. It examines the worlds of Shakespeare and Walt Disney, working with literature, media, and the theoretical and methodological concepts developed in cultural studies over recent decades. Faculty specialisations range from the Indian subcontinent to Canada and from African American culture to detective novels. Alumni pursue careers in journalism, publishing, and the media industry; they work in public relations, political and cultural institutions, and international cooperation. Alumni with above-average qualifications also have the opportunity to pursue an academic career.
