The BA in German Language and Literature systematically analyses linguistic and literary phenomena and offers a methodologically diverse and wide-ranging approach. The programme examines language and literature from their historical roots to contemporary diversity. It comprises three main areas: German linguistics, modern German literature, and medieval German studies. Students study the structure, development, and evolution of language and interpret literary texts from the Middle Ages to the present day. Graduates of the BA programme in German Language and Literature acquire a broad range of specialist knowledge in language and literature, with opportunities to develop an individual focus. The degree provides a foundation for a Master’s or careers in the media, publishing, and related fields.
