Sport (Physical Education)

Polyvalent dual major bachelor's degree programme - Major field (with secondary-school teaching degree option)

The polyvalent two-major Bachelor’s degree in Sports offers students a scientifically grounded and flexibly structured programme with two distinct options. The option relating to teacher education specifically prepares students for a future career as a physical education teacher at Gymnasium (secondary school type in Germany), while the individual study option provides extensive flexibility for personalised academic pathways. Combined with a second major subject, the degree programme is designed both for students pursuing a career in school teaching and for those aiming to develop an individual qualification profile for a wide range of professional pathways. The curriculum integrates theoretical foundations of sport science with sport-specific and cross-disciplinary content, and conveys subject-related, as well as didactic-methodological competencies. Students who choose the teacher education option are systematically prepared for progression to the Master of Education and the subsequent preparatory service for teaching at schools. In contrast, the individual study option offers substantial scope for the development of innovative career pathways, for example in the fields of health promotion or other sport-related professional contexts.
