From application to a research stay in Freiburg: This is what awaits you now and after admission to the Freiburg Rising Stars Academy:

| Application and Matching Process | The team of international research marketing will organize the application and matching process, recruiting international applicants from within our university alliances, strategic partnerships, and beyond, whose research interests and pursuits will connect well with the Host PIs and institutions. The scientific partners (Host PIs and host institutions) will contribute to the selectionprocess in order to achieve the best matching results. | Application: March – May 2023 Matching Process: June 2023 |
| Digital Kick-Off & Development Phase | Once matched, the research teams will meet online for the first time during the kick-off and then have about three months to develop their joint project. | November, 23 2023 |
| Rising Stars Conference | The Rising Stars invited to Freiburg for a whole week will: 1. Have an interdisciplinary symposium, introducing their research projects 2. Attend well-selected workshops on interdisciplinary research, funding opportunities, science communication, and other relevant cross-disciplinary topics 3. Spend time in laboratories, libraries, and other core facilities needed for their research projects, as well as spend time with their Host PIs. 4. Partake in the Rising Stars Night, when the most promising research projects will be chosen for the residency program | March / April 2024 |
| Rising Stars Night | The Rising Stars Night will be a public event that will connect the rising stars with external partners and offer sponsors and other non-university partners an opportunity to meet with the members of the Rising Stars Academy (Host PIs and institutions, as well as the rising stars). | March / April 2024 |
| Rising Stars in Residence | The Rising Stars chosen for the residency program will spend up to 3 months in Freiburg with their Host PIs working on their projects and engaging with the Freiburg Scientific Community. In addition, the Marketing & Events team will organize a framework program to connect the rising stars with local and regional partners and give them a chance to fully immerse themselves in Freiburg and the region. | June – November 2024 |
| Connecting Rising Stars | All alumni of the Rising Stars Academy will join the module Alumni, which will give them access to exclusive events, recruitment days, etc. | All year round |
