The Scientific Conference of the Freiburg Rising Stars Academy will introduce our 25 visiting scholars – the Rising Stars – and their academic activities to the Freiburg research community. Our Rising Stars will also share insights into the projects they hope to undertake with their Freiburg Host-PIs during the next phase of the FRSA, the RESIDENCE.
The conference is a unique opportunity to meet inspiring young researchers from around the world, as well as their Host-PIs and representatives from their hosting institutions.
In our experience, the Scientific Conference has the potential to spark interdisciplinary conversations and even new collaborative projects.
Evening Event: “Battle of the Disciplines”

Closing the first day of the Scientific Conference, we have invited two keynote speakers from among our junior professors to compete in a friendly match about the topic of “Signals for the Future – Brains and Plants”.
Keynote I: JProf. Dr. Monika Schönauer
Keynote II: JProf. Dr. Sjon Hartman
The keynotes are followed by a panel discussion between the competitors and two selected Rising Stars.
Rising Stars Night

Following the Conference, join us for a night of celebration and networking – meet our Rising Stars and hosting institutions, learn about projects and build new connections. The Rising Stars Night concludes the FRSA CONFERENCE Week and Rising Stars will learn whether they have been accepted to the RESIDENCE. Dinner, drinks, and entertainment will be provided.
