The University of Freiburg has been participating in the Stifterverband’s Diversity Audit since the autumn of 2024. In this 2.5-year strategy and organisational development process, the university is working on self-imposed key issues. The aim is to develop a university-wide strategy on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, which bundles and systematises previous approaches, while adding new aspects and strengthening the claim of a diversity perspective that goes beyond gender equality concerns, which is already laid out in the current structure and development plan. Participation in the diversity audit is thus intended to strengthen the university’s long-established EDI work in the profile development process that has already begun.
The auditing process combines elements of organisational development with collegial advice and external guidance. University-wide workshops, reflection and discussion rounds accompany and support the process. Upon completion of the auditing process, the Stifterverband awards the “Shaping Diversity” certificate, which is valid for three years.
