Workshop and Training Offers

The unit Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) offers a wide range of workshops and trainings to promote a university culture that is free of prejudice and sensitive to discrimination. The offer includes introductory awareness-raising sessions, training in countering bias and prejudice, and courses on protection against discrimination as well as diversity-sensitive personnel selection. It can be customised and implemented flexibly in terms of time and location – from 1.5 to 4 hours, online or in person – and is aimed at all members and organisational units of the university. Please feel free to contact us with your concerns and questions

Awareness-raising

This workshop and training offer is aimed at individuals and, in particular, teams who want to explore diversity-related issues, unconscious bias, stereotypes and prejudices, and (anti-)discrimination in greater depth. The focus is on critically reflecting on structures that privilege or disadvantage certain groups as well as learning how to behave in a way that is free of prejudice and shows appreciation.

Arguing skills training

These training courses aim to teach participants how to argue and act effectively when confronted with discriminatory attitudes and behaviour. Starting with reflection on their own motivation to counter prejudice and discrimination, participants learn strategies and train their ability to recognise, identify and refute prejudice and discrimination (with argumentative skills).

Protection against discrimination / AGG training

The General Act on Equal Treatment (AGG) protects people from discrimination on the grounds of age, gender, chronic illness or disability, religion, sexual identity, or for racist or anti-Semitic reasons. The training courses cover the objectives and provisions of the AGG, the rights and obligations of employers, and practical examples from everyday study and working life.

Diversity-sensitive personnel selection

This training programme is aimed in particular at leaders and other employees with responsibility for personnel (recruitment). The aim is to acquire skills and methods that help to minimise the effects of unconscious bias in recruitment processes, take into account people with different backgrounds and experiences, ensure equal opportunities and fully comply with labour law requirements (see AGG training).
