In the Bachelor’s degree programme in Nursing Science, you will further your training in the nursing profession, gaining in-depth and advanced skills in direct patient care, as well as fundamental skills in nursing science. Students who have already completed the vocational training in nursing can have relevant credits recognised.
Nursing
We equip you with the skills you need to support patients in their treatment and in managing the effects of illnesses and their therapies, and to promote and maintain general health. Your aim will be to learn how to achieve the best possible outcomes in treatment and care for people with health issues and how to help them enjoy the best possible quality of life at every stage of their lives.
Core Competencies in Nursing Science
You will develop a basic understanding of nursing science, acquire fundamental theoretical knowledge of nursing science and practise the relevant skills required to address research questions in a scientific manner.
Career perspectives
Everyday Working Life
After graduating, you will work in a team both with and for patients, applying an evidence-based approach. You will act as the nursing liaison in an interprofessional team (with nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and social workers, for example) and contribute to the development of nursing practice and research. Using the skills acquired during your bachelor’s degree, you will be able to independently assess the effectiveness of patient care and integrate scientific findings from nursing research to your practice.
Master’s degree
At the University of Freiburg, you can progress to the subsequent Master’s programme in Nursing Science, which builds upon the contents of the Bachelor’s programme.
You also have the opportunity to enter other Master’s programmes in nursing and health care across Germany.

The versions of statutes with relevance to teaching and learning provided on this page by the Department of Legal Affairs (in particular admission and selection regulations as well as subject and examination regulations) are primarily for information purposes. This means that all amendments subsequently agreed upon by the University Senate have been integrated into the respective text of the original statutes; in the case of the examination regulations for bachelor's and master's degree programmes, this generally relates to extracts of the respective examination regulations (framework examination regulations, subject-specific provisions, and appendices).
The greatest care has been taken in writing these versions. Nevertheless, it cannot be entirely ruled out that errors may have occurred. Consequently, it is solely the officially announced statutes and statute amendments that are legally binding, i.e. as published in the Amtlichen Bekanntmachungen der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau [de] or, up to the year 2000, in the official gazette of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.
